Meet the members of Soroptimist Int'l of Rancho Cordova/Gold River & learn about our 12-year-old club and the 100-year-old organization Come and relax after work with a terrific group of people. The first round of mead shots is on us! Learn about our club and its 12-year history of community service and the Soroptimist organization's 100-year history of making a difference throughout the world. Find out how you can volunteer or even become a club member. Maybe you can even win a door prize for attending! We look forward to seeing you! is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls.Our network of around 80,000 club members in 132 countries and territories works at a local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable opportunities for women and girls. Projects take place all over the world focusing on issues such as Violence Against Women, Safe Sanitation, Displacement, Education, Leadership - anything that effects the lives of women and girls.  Projects that our club specifically has taken on are: Working with Project 680 to provide homeless K-12 students’ basic necessities likes socks, shoes, toiletries, undergarments, and new bras for teen girls. Creating “Comfort Kits” for women who have escaped domestic violence in our community, since many leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and “Comfort Kids” drawstring bags containing a coloring book, crayons, small plush toy and personal hygiene items for the children of these courageous women. Treating Kindergarteners to a holiday party complete with gifts, food and personal time with Santa Claus in an elementary school where 90% of the families live below the poverty line Worked with 4 other local Soroptimist clubs to host a STOP Human Trafficking Symposium Volunteering at Rancho Cordova community events and activities Provided deserving homeless senior girls with a new Senior Ball dress, shoes and makeover for Senior Ball Giving cash awards to single mothers who have returned to school Gave cash awards to 14-17 aged girls who volunteer and make a difference in their community, with a matching cash award to an organization of their choice Created over 350 pillowcase dresses for girls in developing countries to discourage human traffickers. Raised money to purchase 40 Solar Cookers for Sudan refugee families The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.
