Now's your chance to try the fastest growing sport in the country! Get ready to curl! Our rock-star team of instructors will guide you through a night of sliding, sweeping and scoring basics to get you playing a game in no time! We'll greet you at the door and sign you in, giving you a name badge. From there, your dedicated instructor for the evening will get you everything you need, go over the safety rules, and bring you into the ice house. There, you'll learn the basic curling delivery, learn how to sweep the stone, and throw it all together into a mini-game where you'll learn scoring basics as you go. After just one class, you’ll know enough to join an introductory league or pick-up game! Dress in layers, it can be brisk on the ice, but you’ll heat up when sweeping. Wear flat, clean running shoes. No heels, wedges, boots or dress shoes. We will provide you with “grippers” to fit over your running shoes to help provide traction and keep the ice clean. Gloves are optional. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. We recommend a minimum age of 8 on the ice, as the stones generally weigh more than most young kids! All kids 12 and under are required to bring and wear a helmet. About Curling: Curling is that amazing if somewhat unique sport you've probably seen in the Winter Olympics over the past few years. Teams of four deliver 42lb stones of solid granite down an ice sheet almost 150' long, to a "house" at the far end, trying to make sure their rocks are closer to the "button" than the opposing team. Teammates brush or "sweep" the ice in front of the stone to impact its path of travel. You've seen it on TV during the Olympics. Admit it, the first thing you thought was "I could do that..." Well, we're here to show you how!Southern California Curling Center is a brand new facility dedicated to the sport of curling. Home to Hollywood Curling, the center boasts six sheets of year-round curling ice, a pro-shop, and is the largest curling facility west of the Dakotas. Later this year, we'll be adding in a kitchen and bar to the facility, giving curlers a chance to enjoy all of the social offerings of the sport. In addition to Learn to Curl classes, SCCC and Hollywood Curling run leagues, youth and family events, drop-in games, wheelchair and adaptive events, private parties, corporate events, and film shoot rentals.
