This movie night is in celebration of our Seedkeeper Fellowship Program. If you're interested to learn more about this work, come! SIGN UP REQUIRED Tickets are donation based. Suggested scale of $5-20 Bring your own food and drinks! Any and all pets must be leashed and with you at all times. The garden center will be open for attendees from 8-8:45pm. The Seedkeeper Fellowship Program at Greensgrow is hosting a community movie screening of two documentaries highlighting the work of seedkeepers all over the world. This event will introduce the community to the Seedkeeper program and the upcoming seed library project kicking off in November. The first film, Seed Mother: Coming Home (2021), runs 8min. The second film, SEED: the Untold Story (2016), runs 94min. Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. The seeds are coming home to us. Across Turtle Island, there is a growing intergenerational movement of Indigenous people proud to carry the message of the grand rematriation of seeds and foods back into our Indigenous communities.
