Audio Visual "AV1" Tech. Needed Applicants need to have a strong background in live sound engineering of corporate events, weddings and some bands. Digital mixing on a X32 with iPads desired. Experience in stage lighting is welcomed but not required. Experience in video routing and projection desired. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Keynote desired. IT experience welcomed but not required. 3 multi-purpose venues in Chicago seek part time freelance audio visual technicians. In pro-audio terms, we need several A1's with leadership skills and video skills, hence the term AV1. Applicants need to be self-motivated, self-directed and be able to work well on their own at times. Additional Qualities Required: Punctual. Good listen/learner/asker of questions. Motivated. Good with People from all backgrounds. Able to interface with clients effectively and respectfully. Able to stay cool under pressure. Able to troubleshoot audio and video challenges thoroughly and in a timely manner. Able to be a good and effective communicator with clients, management, guests, performers and the AV team. Able to lift 50lbs. Able to squat, bend down, work overhead. Able to move a 6', 10' and 12' ladders regularly. Able to prioritize multiple tasks and execute them efficiently. Able to walk swiftly. Able to oversee an AV Team of 1 or 2 individuals and delegate responsibilities. Able to work 10-12 hour shifts. Able to take direction from AV Manager well. Able to do some advancing of events with clients and/or performers. Able to learn, set up and operate video screens/projectors, stage lighting and moderate IT. General knowledge of gear, gear maintenance and gear repair (knowing when to get gear professionally serviced). Skills that are desired but not required: minor electrical IT hand tools power tools Dress code Setup/Strike: comfortable clothes, no ripped jeans, no crazy bright colors Dress code for Show: Business casual / show blacks, no wrinkled shirts, no gym shoes, no jeans, no crazy bright colors. If hired, you will learn through hand-ons training under seasoned veterans, the AudioVisual Manager and AV Director. Hours vary, Expect to get 25-35 hours a week to start during training.
