GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools announced on Friday the appointment of Jonathan Supranowitz as the Director of Communications and Board of Education liaison, effective immediately. Supranowitz will be a member of Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones' cabinet, responsible for leading all communication efforts for the school district, including leadership communications, media relations, social media, and event management for several district events. Supranowitz is replacing Sasha Houlihan, who left the district for an outside opportunity at the end of July. "As a public relations professional, and a parent, this is a great opportunity to continue working at a school district with such dedicated and amazing staff," Supranowitz said in a news release from the school district. "I feel fortunate to be added to a leadership team that is truly committed to the Greenwich community." Jones said she's excited to bring Supranowitz on board full-time. Previously, Supranowitz filled in for Houlihan when she was on leave last year, and helped lead the COVID-19 communications process for the 2020-2021 school year. "I'm excited to have Jonathan join our team at GPS," Jones said. "He has been assisting our communications efforts throughout the past year giving him a substantial introduction to our district, our communications needs, and our processes. His transition will be seamless, and I look forward to partnering with him on the important communication goals we have for our school community." Before working with Greenwich Public Schools, Supranowitz was a senior partnership specialist with the United States Census Bureau, planning, developing and coordinating partnership agreements with government leaders, as well as with local business and community groups, to eliminate enumeration barriers in the 2020 decennial census. For 18 years, Supranowitz worked in public relations for The Madison Square Garden Company and the New York Knicks, most recently as its vice president of public relations. Supranowitz also held media relations roles with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets and was a staff writer for New York Newsday. Supranowitz graduated from the City University of New York, Brooklyn College with a bachelor's degree in mathematics.
