Press release from Louisiana State University: August 17, 2021 LaNERR Public Town Hall Meetings Slated (Louisiana National Estuarine Research Reserve): The search for a National Estuarine Research Reserve in Louisiana wants to involve you! (go to http://www.laseagrant.org/deltanerr/ ) The LaNERR Site Development Committee will be hosting a series of TOWN HALL MEETINGS to provide information on three alternative sites that have been proposed: Atchafalaya Basin, Barataria Basin, and Pontchartrain Basin. Town Hall meetings have been organized (virtual attendance only) for each of the three sites. See the schedule summary that describes three time and date opportunities available for each site. Webinar links are specific to each of the Town Hall Meetings and are provided below the schedule summary. The National Estuarine Research Reserve System is a network of estuarine areas representative of the various biogeographic regions in the United States. Reserves are established for long-term research, education, stewardship, and interpretation to promote informed management of the nation's estuaries and coastal habitats. A reserve represents a partnership program between NOAA and coastal states. NOAA will provide funding and national guidance, and each site is managed on a daily basis by a lead state agency with input from local partners.
