Description
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Though the Hackettstown Town Council just recently passed an ordinance to allow cannabis retailers to open in certain sections of town - and cultivators and manufacturers in others - the council also plans to update its code to disallow cannabis smoking in recreational areas.
The Town Council introduced the ordinance on Aug. 12, which is up for a public hearing at the Thursday, Sept. 9 meeting.
The ordinance to be adopted will state that smoking neither tobacco nor cannabis will be allowed at recreational facilities, sports fields or recreational properties that are "owned, leased or operated by the Town of Hackettstown or Hackettstown Recreation Commission."
The Town Council unanimously passed its ordinance on Aug. 12 to allow one retail store per zone, with restrictions, in the Community Commercial District from Warren Street to Victoria Lane; and the Highway Commercial District, located between Victoria Lane and Route 57.
