Job Overview: 15-25 hours per week, some flexibility with hours, occasional weekends required • This position will be great for a jack of all trades with a motivated, can-do attitude. It will require janitorial/custodial and maintenance abilities. • Must have sufficient physical strength and flexibility for extensive snow removal and to remove garbage, trash, and recycling from the buildings. Also to sweep and mop floors. • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature range for trash removal from buildings and also extensive snow and ice removal from sidewalks and entrances to various buildings, and parking lot. • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move cleaning supplies and equipment related to the job. • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights to a maximum of 20 feet. • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit to perform essential job functions for a 4-6 hour shift. • Must be able to perform cleaning tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking. • Sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with kids, parishioners, staff, and tenants in all buildings and cooperate with supervising staff at all levels to maintain a smoothly functioning work unit. • Ability to grasp and manipulate tools used in performance of all custodial tasks • This position requires the ability to work independently (including staying effectively busy and good decision making). • Must have own dependable transportation. Position may require occasional transportation for donations/recycling. Duties: Clean, sanitize and stock restrooms, classrooms paper towel receptacles Vacuum all carpeted floors Pick up and dispose of waste Dust, wet mop, and refinish (as applicable) non-carpeted floors Organize, dust, disinfect, and polish furniture and fixtures Sweep and mop stairs and landings Sweep, clean glass, dust cobwebs, empty trash, mowing, landscape maintenance, remove snow and ice from sidewalks and building entrances. Replace lights and clean light fixtures or make minor repairs as needed Report building condition problems Responding to and take corrective action to emergency related calls Lock and unlock buildings and rooms Being aware of and minimizing the safety and security risks at the Cathedral campus Communicate with staff, as appropriate to insure needs are met Move furniture and perform event set ups and tear downs Identify supply and equipment needs and put supplies in approved storage areas Keep mechanical rooms, used by custodial services, clean, neat and organized Maintenance responsibilities will be assigned on an as necessary basis. Other duties as assigned Clean all entrances and glass, including the exterior portion, which includes waste receptacles, dusting of cob webs and dusting exterior lights. Sweep entrances and remove debris Detail cleaning of all common areas including: wall washing, dusting, fixture dusting, cleaning of furniture, chairs and tables, and painting as necessary Scrub, re-coat, buff, strip and wax various floors as needed with various products Employment will require a background check which may include FBI fingerprinting
