Chicago Filmmaker And Cancer Survivor Screens Uplifting Movie Inspired By Personal Experiences At Park Center Fundraiser During National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization Presents Lucia Mauro and her film, “One Year Later,” to the Northwoods community September 23rd during fundraiser at Park Center. Mauro’s one-hour original narrative film centers on an American woman who takes a cathartic trip to the Italian Alps one year after completing cancer treatment. Humorous and uplifting, it shows how the protagonist finds her space and becomes a new person who chooses to lead a fulfilling life changed by, but not defined by, illness.
