Description

Cruise the Historic Route 66 Pony Bridge between El Reno and Weatherford! Come join the Oklahoma Route 66 Association as we celebrate the famous Bridgeport Pony Bridge! This nearly 4,000 foot crossing over the Canadian River is the longest bridge of its kind on ALL of Route 66. In early 2022, this bridge will be closed for an extended time for renovation in time for the Route 66 Centennial. We can't think of a better way to commemorate this historic bridge than to cruise it one more time -- with a lot of our roadie friends! We'll head out from the High School in El Reno (407 S Choctaw Ave) and take Historic Route 66 west, across the Pony Bridge and into Weatherford. This drive also includes Bridgeport Hill, Hinton Junction, Lucille's Station, and beautiful original concrete sections of the Mother Road. At the end of the cruise, stay in town for their Rockin' Route 66 Festival. This cruise is FREE - but please register so we know how many folks to expect. The first 30 registrants get a goodie bag from El Reno Main Street! Be sure to select Early-Bird Registration while supplies last. Membership in the Oklahoma Route 66 Association is not required - but we would love your support! Become a member here: https://www.oklahomaroute66.com/store/membership We will have a very limited amount of shirts for sale on-site. Order one in advance to ensure you get one to remember this special occasion. [T-Shirt Order Link Coming Soon!] If you are curious about what the upcoming bridge renovation will entail, check out this news article: https://www.route66news.com/2020/09/12/22m-federal-grant-will-reconstruct-pony-bridge-near-bridgeport/
