Project DetailsRead the article featured in the current Passive House Accelerator magazine. "The 1816 "King's Block" buiding is the oldest remaining Federalist-style commercial building in our southern Connecticut area... In order to extend the lifespan of the 200-year-old building, minimize our energy impact, and improve our own interior environmental quality, we are pursuing PHIUS certification as part of our deep energy retrofit." "Subject as this building is to the Historic District Commission’s restrictions... The retrofit essentially builds a new envelope—walls, roof, and insulated first floor— within the existing one." This project is under construction. The blown-in cellulose insulation will be complete/almost complete, and will be in the middle of installing our new triple-pane (interior) windows. MEP rough-ins will also be ongoing, which may or may not include the installation of ductwork for our Minotair systems.
