Join us at the Boston Commons as we dive into learning how to use your camera! Learning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography, some of which use confusing terminology. And while we also offer other wonderful Beginner Photography classes to get you started, nothing is truly the same as hands-on in-the-field! It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings. In this outdoor, hands-on class, you'll learn all about the basics of photography. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera), the Big Three Settings (Aperture, Shutter Speed, & ISO), how they affect your picture and how to set them, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We'll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what’s in focus in the background), stopping or blurring the action in your scene, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about your camera in a fun and safe environment! Join us to strengthen your photographic knowledge! In this session of Beginner Photography in the Field... ...we will be going to Boston Common & Gardens. The Boston Common and the Garden area have a multitude of subjects to photograph. From rolling greens and water to statues, plants, & flowers, the Common is an excellent meet with a friend, go for a walk, take in the scenery, or, in this case, learn about photography. The variety of subject matter, interesting textures, and wonderful angles and compositions can all lead to terrific photographs.
