Slinky Thing is a seven-piece band that has been playing the music of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen for over ten years. Band leader Bruce Linde says, “Just as jazz players play music from The Real Book, we play music from the Steely Dan and Fagen songbooks. We love and honor the songs but are not a note-for-note tribute band. As great as these songs are to listen to, they’re even more fun to play!" Players include: Karla Downey (lead vox, percussion), Bruce Linde (lead vox, bass), Bill Sparks (sax), Frank India (drums), David Surovell (guitar), Bruce Tompkins (guitar, vox), DeeDee Kato (keyboards). We hope you’ll join us for a late afternoon of the music of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen, from “Aja” to “Peg” to “Green Flower Street”…and more! Because the band performs only rarely their shows always sell out. Order tickets while you can using the link below. "I LOVE these guys. Great players, great tunes, and FUN!" - Amy Foster, Entertainment Services Manager, Hornblower Cruises and Events "You rocked the Tower...thanks for being so professional and entertaining! We all had a great time." - Sylvie Rivera, La View Event Planner | Millenium Tower A SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE BACK ROOM: Thank you for your interest in this show. To stay in the loop about our future shows, please join our mailing list here. This show is part of our outdoor concert series, which is very different in atmosphere and logistics from our indoor shows. We will continue to socially distance our seats, but you may rearrange them to your liking. And those seats will be standard folding chairs - no comfy couches outside, but they will be comfortably shaded. Only 60 tickets will be sold, and we expect all or most of them to be bought in advance. (Reimbursement for cancellation is guaranteed with 24-hour notice, and rain may cause a cancellation from our end). If a show is sold out, you may contact Sam via email ([email protected]) for permission to bring your own seats (and be charged at the "door" instead of in advance). Please keep in mind that late afternoons can be chillier than expected, even on a warm spring day, especially when sitting still, so bring an extra layer! Cups of water will be available, but it might be a good idea to bring your own drinks/snacks. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LIVE MUSIC! Tickets are $20. Children under 12 are free. We strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance, which are available at the link below, or you may pay at the door the day of the show. Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash only at the door (ATMs are nearby). The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage with no additional corkage fee. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-381-1997. Thank you for your support! Local musician Sam Rudin recently opened a new music venue in downtown Berkeley called The Back Room, which honors his vision to recreate the cozy ambience of the original Freight & Salvage. Rudin describes his new venture as a small space (100 people max), with great acoustics and comfortable seating, that showcases the musicians with respect and appreciation.
