Speaker: Mike was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the University at Albany, State University of New York, in 2001 with a B.A. in Classical Archaeology, and in 2007 earned his Juris Doctorate from the Columbus School of Law Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Following law school, Mike clerked for the Honorable John H. Bayly, Jr., of the District of Columbia Superior Court, then went on to work for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). After nearly four years of accounting regulation, Mike and his wife Genevieve decided return to Genevieve’s hometown and moved to Shreveport in late 2012. Mike joined Weems, Schimpf, Haines, Shemwell & Moore in 2013 and was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2014. Mike is also admitted to practice in Texas. Mike specializes in estate planning, elder law, probate and successions, VA and Medicaid benefits, and special needs planing. Outside of work Mike’s time is almost entirely occupied by his three children, Patrick, Isabel, and Daniel, but he finds time to be an active member of the Knights of Columbus at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans and serves on the board of Catholic Charities of North Louisiana. The mission of the Association of Fundraising Professionals North Louisiana Chapter is to cultivate a culture of philanthrophy by empowering professionals to practice ethical and effective fundraising.
