Come Join Us! https://gasconadefallpleinair.com2021 Gasconade Fall Plein Air Our Gallery is in a 100+ year old building on Owensville’s historic main street; built by the Koch family as their grocery store. The Deppermann’s eventually purchased the store and over the decades the building changed hands several times. Unfortunately, neglect led to its decline and the once beautiful building had become a blight to First St. This is where our story really begins, Miss Anna Mae Rademacher, a retired teacher as well as owner and proprietor of the Farmers’ Merchant Café next door and our unofficial First Street Ambassador, purchased this sadly neglected building in 2011. In 2012 with determination and a dream, she created a place for talented and skilled local and regional Missouri Artists to exhibit, sell, demonstrate and teach their Art. In May 2015, Anna Mae sold the Farmers’ Merchant Café to focus more on the gallery and in July of 2015, AWOM became a 501©3 a Not for Profit Corporation. Our mission is to promote the Arts through Education, Exhibits and Outreach while providing a venue that will also enhance historic downtown Owensville. Anna laid down the foundation for AWOM to build on, it is our goal to continue to expand our membership base and establish an endowment fund for the Gallery and the Anna Mae Rademacher Arts Scholarship, which was created to honor Anna who passed away in December of 2016. The Gallery and Art Scholarship is Anna’s Legacy to the community she loved so much.
