Description

Yaa'iin hundessaa Kongiresii Oromoo Idil-Addunyaa, dhaaba sagalee Oromoo qindeessee dhageesisuu fi ergama Oromoota biyya ambaa galmaan ga'uu A founding conference of the Oromo World Congress, a representative body of the Oromo diaspora, that will function as the highest deliberative, legislative, and political body of the Oromo diaspora in the world. It is a non-partisan organization that represents the plurality of the Oromo people in the diaspora, that deliberates and decides on the major issues affecting the national Oromo people. We, the organizers of WOC, are planning an inaugural meeting for the establishment of the World Oromo Congress (WOC) from September 18-19, 2021 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The address of the venue is 6085 7th St NE Fridley, MN 55432. WOC is the global national assembly of representatives of Oromo from all walks of life in the diaspora. Participants include delegates from the Oromo community, religious, political, civic, youth, women and professional organizations/associations, artists, activists, public influencers, and elders. Emphasizing the notion of coming together signified by this event, the organizers contend that the key point of the meeting is to re-affirm and assert our collective agency as the Oromo nation, to voice our solidarity with our people at home, and to reaffirm our resolve to stand united. Following deliberative sessions on the constitutive documents, the Congress is expected to announce the establishment of WOC and a Council that serves on behalf of WOC in overseeing the executive agency tasked to implement core functions prioritized by WOC. Once constituted, WOC will be a formal consultative, deliberative, and decision-making platform for all the Oromo in the diaspora that serves as a body that assesses, deliberates on, and proposes solutions for major issues of concern to the Oromo nation. This is expected to ensure ownership of the people in the Oromo national struggle. Hence, we are kindly inviting your organization/association to at least send two delegates, from each of the communities, representing constituents to take part in this historic and timely undertaking. Your participation is crucial! For more information, please contact us at [email protected] for any questions or concerns. World Oromo Congress Founding Taskforce
