Description

You are invited to a community event brought you by The Owen Center and Axis. We live in a world saturated with technology. While the technology in itself isn't bad, like every other tool, it can be used for evil and destruction. Students need their parents and faith leaders to intentionally and lovingly guide them on how to use technology with wisdom. In this session, we will examine the leading technologies that are discipling the next generation, how they have revolutionized your child's world, and offer incredibly practical steps for how to use them with wisdom. SCHEDULE 5:30 pm - Doors open 6:00 pm - Welcome 6:10 pm - Presentation of Need by Dr. Sara Smith T 6:15 pm - Alone Together presentation by Russell Keller 7:00 pm - Break 7:15 pm - Q&A panel answering questions from the audience 8:00 pm - End of program SPEAKERS Russell Keller - Since 2007, Axis has helped hundreds of thousands of families navigate difficult conversations with their kids. Striving to bridge the ever-growing gap between the next generation and the caring adults in their lives, Axis' mission is to stay on top of pop and teen culture, to "translate" the beauty of the Gospel to an ever-changing, ever-updating generation. Russell serves on the frontlines of Axis as the Director of Audience Care, helping families have more loving, difficult, heartfelt, awkward, impactful conversations! Gary Spooner - Gary has been a lead pastor for 38 years in churches in Mississippi and Alabama. Most recently, he pastored Covenant Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Alabama for 29 years. Recognizing the need for Christ-centered counseling in the Auburn area, he and his wife, Jill, began The Owen Center in 2015. Sara Smith T - Dr. Smith T grew up in Prattville, and she received her undergraduate degree from Bellhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
