WALLINGFORD, CT— The Connecticut Department of Public Health reports 67.24 percent of Wallingford residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of August 18, 2021.
Wallingford is in a "red zone" of coronavirus transmission, meaning there are 15 or more cases per 100,000 people per day.
Earlier this week, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont issued an order requiring all staff and students in K-12 school buildings to wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status.
Lamont said Thursday that there have been 23 more COVID-19 deaths reported in the state. Including these deaths, 8,330 Connecticut residents have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic outbreak last year.
"We knew that we might expect to see a little bit of a flare up...this coming fall," Lamont said. "We weren't quite expecting (the) delta (variant) to cast that curveball at us in late July and August."
