Description

HAMDEN, CT— The Connecticut Department of Public Health reports 59.96 percent of Hamden residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of August 18, 2021. Hamden is in an "orange zone" of coronavirus transmission, meaning there are 10-14 cases per 100,000 people per day. Earlier this week, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont issued an order requiring all staff and students in K-12 school buildings to wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status. Lamont said Thursday that there have been 23 more COVID-19 deaths reported in the state. Including these deaths, 8,330 Connecticut residents have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic outbreak last year. "We knew that we might expect to see a little bit of a flare up...this coming fall," Lamont said. "We weren't quite expecting (the) delta (variant) to cast that curveball at us in late July and August."
