LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Phyllis Randall, the chair-at-large with the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, will join the Bipartisan Policy Center's national health policy task force. Randall is one of four local government officials on the 14-member task force, according to the policy center. Randall will be joined by current and former officials from across the country, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and San Antonio Mayor Rob Nirenberg. Dr. Anand Parekh is the chief medical advisor with the Bipartisan Policy Center. He is leading the project, and hopes that the new task force can provide actionable guidance for public officials across the country. "The nation is at a critical crossroads with the attention focused on public health during COVID-19 and the historic, one-time emergency investments in America's public health system," Dr. Parekh said. "Public leaders must embrace and leverage this unique moment to strategically plan and implement a well-resourced, modern system that builds on the capacity of all levels of government, so we are better prepared for the next pandemic or any other public health emergency. This coalition will develop a vision for an effective 21st century governmental public health system."
