WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton North Marching Band will parade through the North Side of Wheaton Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. to "drum up" support for the purchase of new drumming equipment, temporarily closing roads in the process. The band's "March-a-thon" will travel from the Central Athletic Complex on Naperville Road to Wheaton North High School while playing music. It will stop to perform for the community at Memorial Park and Northside Park. All roads used for the event will be closed for around 10-15 minutes to let the band pass, the city of Wheaton said on Facebook. The roads will immediately be reopened for vehicle traffic once the band has passed, and all road closures will have officers from the Wheaton Police Department present to assist with any issues. A full list of road closures can be found below. The band is hoping to raise funds to purchase new drums, harnesses, cases and stands. "We need your help keeping our hard-working Falcon musicians looking and sounding great," the band wrote on its website. "Students pledge to march and entertain the community for the 3 mile parade route. We are asking you to pledge financial support for their efforts."
