CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough reports that between Aug. 1 and 19, there have been 24 COVID-positive cases among residents. The announcement issued by the Borough on Friday, provides information about all of the cases for the month. Among the 24 positive cases, the age range is seven to 77, with five people under the age of 11, four between 12 and 20 and 15 who are 21 and up. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 335 people in Chatham Borough who have tested positive, with 580 positive cases in total since the beginning of the pandemic. The mean age of those with a COVID-positive test in the borough is 36 years. Since the pandemic start, the total number of hospitalizations from the borough because of COVID has been 13, with total deaths at 10, per the borough's Health Officer. Since the start of the pandemic, the case breakdown by age in Chatham Borough, has been: No age - 5 cases1-11 - 39 cases12-19 - 126 cases20-30 - 97 cases31-40 - 59 cases41-50 - 103 cases51-60 - 94 cases61-70 - 27 cases71-80 - 18 cases81-90 - 7 cases91+ - 5 cases Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz announced at the borough's last Council meeting on Aug. 9, at that time, there were only five new positive cases borough-wide, from the start of August. Kobylarz also said at the meeting, 97 percent of residents in the borough over the age of 18; and 98 percent ages 65 and up, were fully vaccinated. That accounted for 76 percent of Chatham Borough's total population. In Chatham Township, according to Mayor Stacey Ewald during the Township Committee meeting on Aug. 12, 88 percent of township residents over the ages of 18; and 95 percent of residents 65 and up, had been fully vaccinated. The total number of vaccinated residents in the township exceeded 72 percent.
