MURRIETA, CA — A woman killed Monday afternoon in a traffic crash on Jefferson Avenue in Murrieta has been identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau as a Wildomar resident.
Hazel Hogan, 93, died after she was rushed to a local hospital following the two-vehicle wreck that was reported around 1:40 p.m. on Jefferson at Lily Avenue.
"Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency personnel on scene and medical personnel at the hospital, the passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital after an emergency surgery," a news release from the Murrieta Police Department read.
According to the coroner's bureau, Hogan died at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday at Inland Valley Medical Center.
Hogan was a front passenger in a silver Nissan Versa that was heading north on Jefferson Avenue when a blue BMW 550i made a lefthand turn onto Jefferson from Lily Avenue, police explained.
Jefferson Avenue traffic does not have a stop sign or signal at Lily.
The two vehicles collided on Jefferson Avenue, leaving multiple people injured, but neither driver was seriously hurt, according to Murrieta police.
The speed of each crash vehicle was under investigation by the Murrieta Police Department's traffic officers. No arrests have been publicly announced.
