NORRISTOWN, PA — The third booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine is now available in Montgomery County for immunocompromised individuals, officials announced Friday. The county will open up appointments starting on Monday, Aug. 23, just a few days after they announced that they would offer the vaccine through their existing coronavirus vaccine clinics. >>Montco's Immunocompromised Can Soon Receive 3rd Vaccine Dose Only immunocompromised residents have been approved to receive the third shot. The third dose will only be available for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, as the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine has not yet received approval for another dose. If you qualify you can register for the third shot here through the Montgomery County Office of Public Health. "People who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 because they are more at risk of serious, prolonged illness," the county said Friday in their announcement. "Studies indicate some immunocompromised people don't always build the same level of immunity after vaccination the way non-immunocompromised people do." The following county clinics will offer the vaccine: Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 North Keim Street, Pottstown, PA 19464- Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 6:30 p.m.Human Services Center, (First Floor, Innovation Room), 1430 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA 19401 - Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 6:30 p.m.Willow Grove Parkside Shopping Center, (former Petco), 2522 West Moreland Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090 - Open Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 – 6:30 p.m.
