ELMHURST, IL — A man and a woman distracted a customer by repeatedly asking to help with her groceries Wednesday in the checkout line at Mariano's, 678 N. York St., police said.
About 2:30 p.m., the two people left the line and then the store without buying anything, according to a police report. While still in the checkout line, the customer was unable to find her phone. It was believed to have been stolen.
The man was described as black, 60 years old and 6 feet. The woman was said to be white, 35 years old, 5-foot-6 and having a scar on her right leg.
