ELMHURST, IL — In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant theft, an attempted break-in, forgeries, an impersonation of a doctor and a domestic disturbance. Here's information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Restaurant theft A man stole a bag of cash about 1 p.m. Monday from the counter at Arby's, 340 N. York St. The man was described as black, 6 feet, 200 pounds, having a black beard, and wearing a black baseball cap, yellow shirt, black shorts and black gym shoes. Attempted break-in A man was seen trying to break into a car about 2 a.m. Monday at a house in the 200 block of East Belden Avenue. The man was described as black, 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, bald, and wearing white cargo shorts, a black T-shirt and a face covering. The suspect left the area in a black Lexus SUV, last seen heading west on Belden. Forgeries A person in the 100 block of Brush Hill wrote a check for $70 that was cashed in the amount of $700 at an unknown location. She contacted her bank and had the money reimbursed. The incident was reported Monday. A resident in the 600 block of West Lorraine Avenue noticed a fraudulent transaction on his account. He said he wrote a check to the gas company for $32.33, which was fraudulently changed to $1,400. The incident was reported Monday. A resident in the 700 block of Willow Road told police Tuesday that he wrote a check in the amount of $267.50 and mailed it to an insurance company. Upon reviewing his bank account, he discovered the check had been altered and cashed in the amount of $1,267.50. An investigation is pending. Crane hits tree Police were told a crane operator struck a tree Monday at Fairfield and Crescent avenues. Officers spoke with the crane operator, who said he was following the approved route when he hit the tree. Impersonating doctor A pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., told police Monday that he received a call from a person claiming to be a physician attempting to fill a prescription. The pharmacist was able to obtain a phone number and noted it belonged to a person who had filled several suspicious prescriptions in the past. An investigation is pending. Falls An officer and medics showed up to a report of a fall about 7 p.m. Monday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. The person suffered a leg injury while playing soccer. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. A man fell about noon Tuesday near Maple and Second. He said he became dizzy and fell on the sidewalk. He injured his nose, but refused medical treatment. Stolen bicycle A black and white men's bicycle was stolen about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday from 7-Eleven, 525 Spring Road. An investigation is pending. Domestic disturbance A domestic disturbance occurred about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West Diversey Avenue. Two people had a disagreement, with one striking the other in the face. The suspect denied striking the victim. Police found no signs of injury. No arrests were made.
