Description
Rufus is a 6ish year-old boxer mix. He's very affectionate & playful, but also loves to be a couch potato, curl up and snuggle with his person. He is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He knows basic commands, will take treats out of your hand gently and walks pretty well on a leash. He's a big goofball who loves water and trying to "eat" water right out of the hose.
He is good with people he knows, but would do best in a household without other pets or small children and not sharing a fence with neighbors who have dogs. He doesn't do well with most dogs, but he lives with another dog now and they get along great. He loves to rough house, so his play style can be a bit too much for some dogs.
Rufus was previously adopted from the Jackson County animal shelter and likely experienced some trauma in his past. He's been in our household for 1.5 years and has really come out of his shell and shown a lot of personality. He's a total lovebug, but hasn't been able to adjust to his new living situation. He's really stressed with the neighboring dogs and being in a busier neighborhood. We would really miss him, but would be happy to find him a better fit. Rufus’s ideal home would be with an experienced dog owner who can give him some stability.
There will be a small adoption fee to ensure he goes to a good home.
