EAGAN, MN — 34-year-old Dereje Gonder Hirpa's cause of death has been identified as freshwater drowning by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner Thursday. Hirpa was identified by the Dakota County Sheriff's Department Tuesday, but no cause of death had been released at that time. Hirpa was last seen on security cameras walking toward the beach Aug. 1 holding a towel, officials said. His body was later recovered from the swimming area Aug. 3 by the Eagan Fire Department.
