Description

Press release from City of Berkeley: Tuesday, August 17, 2021 Berkeley, California (Tuesday, August 17, 2021) - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for the East Bay Hills from Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon. The Berkeley Fire Department requested a forecast specifically for conditions in the Berkeley hills because the East Bay Hills region includes a wide area outside of Berkeley. This "Spot" forecast does not predict red flag conditions for the Berkeley hills. Additionally, PG&E is planning a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in areas throughout Northern California, including some parts of Alameda County. At this time, PG&E has not advised that Berkeley will be included in this Public Safety Power Shutoff. We will continue to monitor this weather event for any changes. Until then, it is always a good idea to be ready for power outage or wildfire evacuation.
