Hi, my name is Kathy Hanner and i am fundraising to help my friend Drew Piller. Drew and his girlfriend had a beautiful baby boy, Thomas Shelby Piller on July 16th, 2021. Due to an oxygen deficiency, Baby Thomas had to be delivered via emergency c-section and had to be resuscitated at birth. He's had seizure activities along with involuntary movement activity. Baby Thomas did not even open his eyes until he was 6 days old. On July 23rd, Thomas had to undergo surgery on his large intestines. 2 holes were also found in his small intestines due to lack of oxygen. The doctors tried to repair his intestines but they were too damaged. Baby Thomas was given a colostomy bag and another surgery is scheduled in 6 weeks. At that time, the surgeon will try to fully repair his intestines. For now, he is being kept comfortable wth pain medication and is rarely awake. On July 27th, an MRI and EKG was performed, showing permanent brain damage. The doctor's are not sure if he will ever be able to walk, talk or sit. They assume he will be diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy but won't know for sure until he is a year old. Right now, he is on a breathing tube. Everyday they are lowering the flow of oxygen and slowly increasing his food intake via feeding tube. Whether, he will be able to be feed with a bottle is still un determined. I created this fundraiser to help the Piller family with some of the medical bills. They have a very long road ahead of them and should be able to cherish every moment with their new baby. Hosptial bills vs, saving the life of your child should not be the first thing on any parent's mind. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
