Description

School on Wheels is a local nonprofit founded in 1993 that trains and connects online volunteer tutors to children living in shelters, motels, vehicles, group foster homes, and on the streets in Southern California. We also provide students with backpacks, school supplies, and assistance in entering school. We are seeking volunteers who: -Are 18 and older -Live in California -Have a computer with a webcam and are comfortable tutoring in a digital environment -Possess one or more of these skills: -experience tutoring or mentoring children/youth -experience teaching life skills or social and emotional learning skills -a background in math or science -a background in literacy -a background in psychology, child development, or social work -English and Spanish fluency Students in colleges are encouraged to apply to gain experience in the non-profit, education world as well! We offer online and also in person experiences with protocols following all CDC guidelines in 5 different counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, and Santa Barbra counties. https://schoolonwheels.org/apply-to-be-a-volunteer/
