Description

Available to stream online through Sunday, August 22nd! Make it a movie night! Perfect for a self-care watch! Claire Willett’s The Broken Heart Spread is a deep dive into the world of modern tarot card reading. Over the course of a single day in the life of Delphine (DeLanna Studi) - a modern witch whose tools range from quartz crystals and dried lavender to a laptop and iPhone - we meet seven women at seven different personal thresholds, all looking to the wisdom of the tarot for guidance in matters of the heart. From a nervous teenage girl about to go on her first date, to a megawatt movie star looking for answers, to Delphine's own wife as she takes charge of a family crisis, the tarot cards open doors for each of the women - and Delphine herself - to write the next chapter of their own story. Filmed exclusively in the Alberta Arts district's female-owned Psychic Sister Metaphysical Shop, this 40 minute film is a love letter to the Tarot community. "The life of a modern, entrepreneurial witch has been made trendy in recent years, but what is it truly like to hold space for multiple people, day after day? No one calls a doctor when they are in good health - no one calls a tarot reader when they are in a time of inner harmony. This film is an expression of gratitude for the guidance, empowerment and self-reflection Readers give people in times of transition and personal alchemy."
