Namaqua Unitarian Universalist Music Director Namaqua Unitarian Universalist Congregation (NUUC) of Loveland, Colorado is an LGBTQ-welcoming church of about 140 members with open minds, helping hands, loving hearts, gutsy creativity, and feet that walk our talk. The Music Director reports to the Minister Salary: $800-1000/month depending on experience 10 hours/week; mid Oct - mid June for 2021-22; Sept - June in future years. Professional expenses 10% of salary Music budget $500/year The Music Director creates and directs an inspiring music program that supports the NUUC church mission and vision. The Music Director is considered an integral and participating member of the NUUC church staff. Responsibilities: • Collaborates with the minister and other worship service leaders to integrate music in Sunday Services. • Chooses choral music and hymns, in consultation with the minister and worship service leaders. • Meets regularly with the music committee in support of the music life of the church. • Recruits, conducts and directs the volunteer NUUC Choir. • Supports and develops congregational music-making through song leading and teaching. • Maintains the music library and congregation–owned instruments. • Plays piano to accompany hymns and provide special music. • Arranges for guest musicians as appropriate with an emphasis on diversity. • Maintains contact with music colleagues through Colorado UU Music Leaders (CUUML) and the Association of UU Music Ministries. (AUUMM) Core Competencies: • Organizes people materials and funding in support of the music program. • Understands and commits to UU principles, values and worship. • Articulates an inspired vision for the music program. Qualifications: • • • Comfort dealing with singers of all musical abilities with grace and encouragement. Experience managing a choir. Professionalism, including respect for others, modeling appropriate boundaries and maintaining confidentialities. • Interpersonal skills: • Engage with others in ways that affirm, encourage and support. • Listen actively and communicate clearly. • Hold others accountable in a spirit of love as appropriate. • Shared Leadership: • Show initiative and leadership skills. • Function effectively as a team member working collaboratively.
