There are 2 positions available. The hours for each position are listed below: Hours: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM and 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM Primary Function: To perform a variety of skilled duties at the journeyman level to ensure proper maintenance of college property and equipment. Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor: (1) Perform at the journeyman level: duties peculiar to and normally required in the following trades: (a) Carpentry (for example: framing, drywall installation and finishing, suspended ceilings, ceiling tile, flooring, general repairs, doors/hardware, lock installation); (b) Plumbing (for example: pipe fitting, soldering, brazing, compression fittings, PVC, copper, steel, valve installation and repairs, toilet/urinal flush valves); (c) HVAC maintenance and repairs (for example: filters, belts, lubrication, valve packing, pump seals, low voltage controls, bearing replacement, minor ductwork repairs, pneumatics, equipment cleaning, understanding of a central plant operation). Evacuate and recharge refrigerant systems. (d) Painting, and auto and machinery mechanics following recognized procedures and techniques for such work; (2) Perform building and grounds maintenance: Utilizing trades listed above. General electrical work on lighting fixtures, ballasts, switches and receptacles (any voltage), basic understanding and aptitude up to 24 volts; general painting of buildings and furnishings as directed; general masonry work as required; proficiency in the use of hand/power tools and equipment-(table saws, drill presses, powered hand tools, pipe-threader, cutting tools, simple welding, crimping tools); (3) Operate equipment for removal of snow from college property, as necessary; assist with starting vehicles on college property using jumper cables and jump starter. (4) Operate and troubleshoot building control system: Respond to heat and cold calls, trouble shoot, adjust, and repair pneumatic thermostats, switches, controllers, valves, dampers, and actuators. Trouble shoot adjust and repair electric thermostats, switches, controllers, valves, dampers, and actuators (24V nominal or less). Trouble shoot adjust, and repair control wiring systems (24V nominal or less) to disconnect and connect devices. Trouble shoot electrical systems 24V nominal or less. (5) Implement special responsibilities: prepare a list of special assignments that reflect institutional and individual goals and ambitions appropriate to the position. Qualifications: (1) Education: (a) High school graduate or equivalency; (b) Vocational training with Certification in either a Maintenance Mechanical program, Plumbing, HVAC, or a combination of education/experience in relevant Facilities related trades; (c) Refrigerant Recovery Certification desirable; (d) Possession of a validated driver’s license. (2) Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: (a) Knowledge of and skill in the use of all tools and equipment necessary to perform responsibilities, (b) High mechanical aptitude, (c) Ability to carry out oral and written instructions, (d) Knowledge of equipment maintenance, (e) Ability to work effectively with staff, students, and community members, (f) Initiative, (g) Reliability, (h) Ability to organize work efficiently, (i) Leadership ability. (j) Personal computer skills; (3) Experience: (a) Minimum of five years of experience with at least two years at the journeyman level, (b) Demonstrated competency to perform job responsibilities.
