hello! unfortunately i’m hoping to find my dog Baxter a forever home. would love to farther discuss the details as to why, he’s a lovely dog and i know he’ll make a family very happy. i’m not sure what he is, definitely a yellow lab mix. he has little stubby legs but the rest of his body just reminds me of a lab, he weighs in around 38lbs. he’s 15 months old, he turned a year old in May. he is not neutered but is up to date with distemper & rabies. he came from a not so great situation which i will discuss with you as his past definitely has affected him. beside from the fact he was practically neglected for most of his life (i got him when he was 10 months) he’s a very good boy. he walks amazingly well on leash (does best on leash once he knows who you are but overall listens great) & he has been doing very good off leash he just gets distracted by people/stray cats. he loves to ride in the car but he isn’t a big fan of the lake/water. he was never taught any commands but i’ve gotten him to understand to “sit” for the most part. baxter doesn’t match my dogs energy so i know sometimes he’s very bothered with my dog as she will chew at him and often wants to play while he is a rather calm dog and only occasionally gets the urge to play (and he typically prefers our older mastiff mix who is also a more calm dog). he never had any toys in his past home so he’s still pretty new to it. my dog is so overbearing she usually always takes toys away from him but he definitely loves plush toys when he gets the chance. he does good with cats & other dogs and can live with kids however i think kids 6+ would be best as he gets nervous very easily. he currently lives with a rabbit & we have a kitten but i would not recommend him with such small pets as he does definitely seem to have a prey drive. there’s a lot more i would like to discuss,, please message me if you’d like to know more. i definitely would prefer him to go to a home with one other dog as he definitely does best with another, we do believe he has some anxiety but i don’t think it’s severe however i think he would love if someone could be home most of the time and/or where he could tag along with his owners wherever they go.
