Summary of Position The General Maintenance/Set-ups person will be responsible for maintaining campus property to include light carpentry work, plumbing as well as analyzing, appraising and, where possible, repairing and/or installing building equipment. The person in this position will work with limited supervision but should also confer with the Maintenance Supervisor, the Executive Director, and other facility personnel when necessary to ensure the facility is properly maintained. They will also assist in the setup of events on the campus as required. Schedule 40 hours; Flexible schedule Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to preventative maintenance programs and follow routine corrective maintenance, on a daily basis. Writes reports about the status of equipment, make parts list as needed to repair the equipment and make recommendations for replacement of equipment. Answer emergency calls on a priority basis and reports the daily progress to the facilities manager. Makes minor repairs to the plumbing system, which may require familiarity with pipe fitting and sweating. Makes minor repairs to buildings, which may require familiarity with sheetrock repairs, painting. Provides assistance to the facility personnel and mechanics, including but not limited to changing fluorescent tubes; cleaning light fixtures; greasing and oiling of motors and pumps; changing belts and filters; and cleaning mechanical rooms. Repairs in-house custodial equipment. Does minor roof repairs and carpentry. Maintains work area and tools in a neat and orderly fashion. Provides utility services including cleaning up spills, cleaning equipment, shoveling snow and removing ice. Other duties may include picking up parts, delivering and moving furniture and office supplies between buildings. Work closely with campus events coordinators to ensure timely setups. Requirements High school diploma and/or GED is preferred. Two or more years experience in general mechanical work and maintenance of equipment preferred. Must pass a background check. Familiarity with procedures for corrective and preventative maintenance. Knowledge of use of hand tools for various applications. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Must complete all company training as required. Hospitality experience preferred but not necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk or hear, and taste and smell. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
