Lost dog seen near San Dimas / Glendora border

...I was just going out and started driving east of Foothill into the border of San Dimas at 5:00 am and noticed a large dog--about the size and looks of a greyhound, but with different markings. It had alternating patches of dark and white but I'm not expert on breeds so I can't be sure what type it is....I saw it crossing Foothill near to where the diner Kosmos is....so that'd be roughly the corner of Dixie Drive and Foothill in San Dimas proper...East of Amelia and west of San Dimas Canyon Ave...I could tell it had gotten away somehow because it was just walking along alone....I hope someone checks on their lost dog this morning, and I hope it is in time....Note well: I called the police department to get the number for animal control, and all I could do is leave a message because they are not open at this hour...
