Description

Bitch / Myshkin (Co-Bill) Presented by TOC ALL AGES PROOF OF COVID VACCINATION REQUIRED AT DOOR FOR ALL ATTENDEES | MASKS ARE TO BE WORN WHILE INSIDE | Ages 12+ | Bar w/ID Since she first started releasing music in the late 90’s, BItch has metamorphosized her sound and style. Her new sound is what she describes as Poet Pop, and has gotten her signed to Kill Rock Stars for her upcoming release, “BItchcraft” as well as caught the ears of Indigo Girls who have tapped her to open shows on their Fall tour. Bitch’s main instrument is violin, and she has been a fixture in the queer music scene for over 20 years. She first burst onto the scene with her band Bitch and Animal, who toured with Ani Difranco and released albums on Righteous Babe Records. After a hiatus of 7 years since her last album, Bitch is excited to be back. -- Songwriter Myshkin Warbler presents her multimedia performance Warning Signs, an eclectic anti-fascist entertainment. Originally created in response to the 2016 u.s election, Warning Signs continues to find resonance in a world that swerves ever more dangerously off the right shoulder of the road into corporate-ruled disaster. Myshkin mined her back catalogue of wide ranging, politically minded compositions to revive songs that comment on a list of warning signs of fascism. She created short film collages for each song, using public domain footage culled from films, ads and propaganda of the early to mid 20th century. The band performing to the projected films is an immersive experience: surrealist film and thickly narrative songs interlock to create an absurdist theater. Infuriating, funny, heartbreaking, mind-wilding. Know your warning signs! The Old Church Concert Hall is Portland's cultural living room and sanctuary of sound.
