Project Girl Mentoring presents the Take Up Space 5K We are excited to announce Project Girl Mentoring very own, first ever 5K Walk/Run! When South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe in 2019, she gave a response to a question about what we should be teaching young women and girls that brought down the house. She said, “We should be given every opportunity. And that is what we should be teaching these young girls: to take up space. Nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself.” Her quote inspired this year’s theme, “Take Up Space,” for the Project Girl Mentoring Program (PGMP) 5K. This inaugural 5K, will takes place Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10 am, will increase awareness for PGMP and raise funds for mentoring young women. Whether you want to walk, run, skip or dance, let’s move together and take up space! Your support of this event will ensure PGMP will be ready to go for 2022. 100% of proceeds will go directly to the PGMP to keep our program financially accessible to all girls who want to participate at no cost to them. Registration is required and fee includes Swag Bag and Finisher Ribbon: Youth (Under 18)*: $10 Adults: $25 *Young women ages 11-18 will also receive a period pack and a sports bra while supplies last.
