Mental and physical reset ~ Forest Bathing Walk (Shinrin-Yoku) Recharge by joining us on this gentle guided walk in Bothell's urban wilderness park, North Creek Forest. Leave with your own Forest Bathing Kit and a renewed feeling of calm and belonging. The Japanese word Shinrin-Yoku translates as "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." Forest bathing is an outdoor activity where we slow down, turn up the volume on all our senses, and practice the art of "noticing." Evidence-based research links forest bathing to powerful health benefits, including reduced blood pressure and stress levels, a stronger immune system, improved sleep, better cognition, and higher energy levels. We'll practice nature-inspired mindfulness techniques together and share insights. You'll learn easy ways to add forest-bathing-esque activities to your everyday life so you can feel more peace and manage stress levels. Your guide is Judy Beaudette, owner of Forest Bathing NW LLC and board member of Friends of North Creek Forest, a local nonprofit that helped preserve the 64 acres of urban woodland that is now North Creek Forest park. Trained as an educator, Judy has been leading forest bathing walks for visitors ages 16-90 years old since 2017. Group size is limited to 6 people, so we can maintain distance along the pathways. This event occurs entirely outdoors, so masks are required for participatnts who are not fully vaccinated when six feet distance cannot be maintained (per CDC and Washington State guidance). Attendees must be 12 or older, and children must be accompanied by an adult. REMINDERS Closed-toe shoes or boots are recommended. You may want to wear long pants/sleeves to ward off stray sticker bushes. We'll walk rain or shine, so dress appropriately for whatever the weather offers us. This mile-long walk traverses some uneven ground and a flight of wooden stairs. DIRECTIONS This event is held in North Creek Forest, Bothell WA.
