Description

Hello, i am looking for a band that wants to play a fusion of music styles that people will dance to, as well as weird avant garde or experimental music. I am a multi-instrumentalist and producer also. Here is some of my music: https://archive.org/search.php?query=Sebastian%20oz%20soleil Please listen to a few songs because not too many are alike. Some are extremely different. Mostly its a fusion of dance music with any other genre, but there is also a folk song in there too, and a rock song, and an experimental song etc. ABOUT ME: My primary instrument is bass guitar and i could get up on stage and jam along with any genre except jazz, which i could probably fake for a song or two. Jazz has its own unique progressions and chord structures that i am jot as familiar with. I am able to play all other styles of western music. Since 2000, i have played rock, pop, reggae, soul, funk, and indie music. I am able to follow chord charts and make my own for complex songs, but i am not able to read sheet music fast enough live (for instance to play a jazz standard or to play note for note.) i have a good ear so with a little practice i am able to play very close to the original or intended bass line and stay consistent. I am able to play keys, percussion, and sing, though i am not able to sing while playing anything else. Maybe if i drop enough acid one day that will change. MY IDEAL SITUATION: A band that plays a fusion of styles that people will dance to, and also likes to experiment with music and sound in general. A band that has several multi-instrumentalists so that i am able to switch between bass, keys, singing, and percussion. My main instruments are bass and keys though. If there is no one else in the band that isn't also able and willing to play bass sometimes, then it isn’t an ideal fit. I am not interested in playing straight up rock/metal (please don’t ask) or any other standard common genres associated with bands. I want to play dance fusion and weird art music. I prefer we play mostly original music with a light mix of covers thrown in, to help engage the audience. As for covers, it would be nice if we chose from a wide variety of styles and put our own twist on it. I am game for selecting music from almost any artist. A band that seeks to play out anywhere between 2-6 times a month, and WILL NOT play for free or for less than it costs the band to get prepared and arrive at the gig. I am not doing this for money, but im sure not interested in losing money and being a starving artist. If we aren't able to get enough money to cover our expenses like travel and rehearsal space, i will be out pretty quickly. A band that doesn't have a rigid hierarchy and we are all equal members with a right to express our preferences and opinions. It is easy for me to take constructive criticism and make adjustments, but i wont tolerate a band leader who acts like my boss, or anyone else lording over me. I’d prefer that we act as peers and people are mature about it. Show me respect as a peer and i will do the same for you. No drama (bringing around lovers who butt into band business,) and what you consume is your own business, but it i am able to tell you have a consistent substance abuse problem, i will be out. Also people need to be reliable and not flaky. No self important prima donnas or people that are judgmental or rude to people in general. I prefer mature people who are not distracted by other things besides the music when we are performing (chasing after people or substances for instance.) The most interesting bands to me have band members that have very different tastes in music. My interests are fairly wide. I don’t have a need to play with the absolute best of the best, but i do prefer to play with others with above average skill and experience like me. Whoever is singing cannot suck. I have to like them. I will stay as long as i am having fun, gigging, and not losing money.
