Park entrance is off Jeffrey Road in Great Falls, VA, off of Georgetown Pike and River Bend Road, and the trail starts at the edge of the lower parking lot. The walk from Riverbend Park to Great Falls NP Visitor's Center (which has open bathrooms but requires masks) is a 2 mile out-and-back directly along the river, all dirt and very well worn and marked. There are two sections with a mild rock incline, but otherwise it is a relatively flat course with some lovely views across the river. Once in the National Park, there are a number of other trails down Mather's Gorge, if you wanted to lengthen the total hiking trip. RIverbend also has a visitor's center with bathrooms and picnic tables overlooking the river, if you'd like to invite participants to bring a picnic. There aren't any restaurants close, and the snack bar at the visitor's center is not open. This is also a great hike for fall or spring when different vegetation is out or colors are changing, We will gather at: Old Brogue Irish pub restaurant after hike: 760 Walker Rd.
