Hand carved bowls are so awesome! We will be carving bowls using "old world" tools along with modern. Starting with selecting the type of wood. Black Walnut, Cherry, Silver Maple, Elm, Sycamore and Rock Maple. The bowl blanks are approximately 8"x 8" x 3" The wood used in this class is all reclaimed from trees in our community that were headed to the landfill. Air dried to 8-10% In this class you will learn to read wood grain and develop a sense of how the carving tools cut with and against the grain. The carving chisels are very sharp and I will teach you how to keep them that way. We will finish the bowls with a Beeswax Walnut/Sweet Orange Oil.
