Description
An integrative experience bridging the gaps between intervention, prevention, recovery, treatment, & wellness for & in the black community. Minority Recovery Collective Inc. (MRCI, "mercy") is proud to host its Inaugural Recovery Month Conference, Summit UP, September 24-26th in Indianapolis, Indiana. This event gathers Advocates, Community Members, Peer Professionals & Resources throughout the state of Indiana from the full continuum of care to bridge the gaps between intervention, prevention, recovery, treatment, & wellness for & in the black community. Those who attend are sure to leave with a renewed sense of purpose and fresh ideas for providing care and support moving forward. This landmark experience will be held at Indiana's only predominately black institution (PBI), Martin University for 200 like minds to experience 3 days of fellowship, networking, education, and immersive sessions centered on the recovery and sustained wellness of black and brown folks. This year's theme is based on one of MRCI's core values: Transformation. "We are not afraid to have courageous, sometimes uncomfortable conversations that lead to the positive transformation of ourselves, our organization, our community, and the greater Indianapolis area." All sessions and activities will give insight on practical applications of how to positively transform within one or more of the 8 Dimensions of Recovery to start and/or sustain recovery until wellness can be maintained. Please note: Registration and masks are required for the conference (indoor). For the outdoor market, pre-registration is suggested and masks are required. More information about this conference & sponsorship opportunities can be found here. Minority Recovery Collective Inc. (MRCI ["mercy"]) is a peer-led healing community of individuals and businesses working together to provide free recovery support programs and services to Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) throughout the state of Indiana. Trained and certified as Peer Professionals, our members assist BIPOC looking to heal from addiction, mental health challenges, chronic stress/trauma, and other circumstances that negatively affect one's quality of life. Our mission is to promote the wholistic recovery of BIPOC through harm / stress reduction and positive social interactions, this includes direct services, sober social events, and community engagement. Minority Recovery Collective Inc. (MRCI, pronounced mercy) was founded to normalize recovery for Communities of Color through healthy, positive social interactions. We accomplish this through our signature Sober Social events, Sober-ish Meet Ups, and other programs/services. By creating a positive gathering space for individuals in recovery and the greater community, we promote healthy social reintegration into society.
