From Empowerment to Implementation: Belmont Cragin Bike Tour APA-CMS is proud to host the 2021 mobile workshop and bike tour featuring neighborhood bikeway network improvements in the Belmont Cragin Neighborhood. Representatives from the Belmont Cragin Youth Council, Community Development, and the Northwest Side Housing Council have been working with the City of Chicago to produce and implement the Belmont Cragin Avenues for Growth Quality of Life Plan, seeking to improve economic development, housing, transportation, and public spaces in the neighborhood. The tour will feature a discussion from project stakeholders and will include a guided bike tour of recently completed neighborhood bikeway improvements. Tour begins and ends in Riis Park located at 6100 W. Fullerton Avenue. Registration includes access to a Divvy bike for those who do not bring their own. Helmets and Divvy waivers will be required. SpeakersDave Smith, AICP – Chicago Department of Transportation David Smith is an AICP certified planner and serves as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager for the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). David is responsible for leading the planning, design, and implementation of bicycle infrastructure throughout the City. In 2021, CDOT has focused efforts to partner with community stakeholders on the West Side to develop a network of bike routes in conjunction with the expansion of the Divvy bike share system. Tim Gustafson, AICP - Epstein Tim is an Associate Vice President and Senior Planner at Epstein. He has 15 years of experience in transportation planning, bicycle, pedestrian design, and complete streets technical assistance services. His experience includes feasibility and traffic impact studies, corridor and comprehensive planning, Phase I, and Phase II engineering. He is an AICP certified planner, and is a trainer for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).
