Description
Join us for the Garden Refresh 2 event at the Mt. Hope Community Garden October 22nd & 23rd! Last year the Garden Refresh event at Mt.Hope Community Garden was a huge success, and the overwhelming support we received from community volunteers completely blew us away. This year, we're hoping to repeat the success at our Garden Refresh 2 happening on October 22 & 23, 2021. This two day community workday event is sponsored by Love Tito's Block 2 Block initiative, which strives to make fresh, nutritious food available through free gardens and farms, built by community members and Team Tito's. We'll be finishing some of the projects started from last year, as well as revamping growing spaces and creating new spaces all aimed toward food growing and healthy, sustainable gardens for our community members. Each day will be broken up into two shifts - morning shift and afternoon shift. Due to COVID restrictions and safety guidelines, space will be limited for each shift so please register for this event as soon as possible. Below is a quick video from our event last year. We're ready for round two! Please join us for this fun, community building event. Vision - Project New Village envisions Southeastern San Diego as a community of active neighborhoods supporting and contributing to the health, wealth and well-being of community members. Mission - To serve as a catalyst for resident-led, community-rooted experiences that Build stronger neighborhoods; Improve the neighborhood food supply chain; Stimulate collective investment in better health and Maximize the impact of investment to address social inequities. Our goal of improving fresh food access in Southeastern San Diego is part of a broad-based movement to build social equity, giving way to healthy neighborhoods. PNV has embraced urban farming and community engagement as our primary tools to improve food access, food security, and environmental wellness. We use a social determinants of health model which views food equity and self-determination as key factors for achieving better health.
