The Bible In Its Historical Context - What Did the First Hearers Hear? What Did They See? What did They Understand? CLASS DATES/TIMES - Tuesdays, Sept. 14, 21, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 -each class starts exactly at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:30 pm This is the LAST time this class will be offered. Seating is very limited - we have 35 seats only. Thus, each person attending this class MUST register. You can not sign up for others. Each person must have proof of registration to attend the first class. Though there is no charge for this class it is highly suggested you consider a minimum donation of $50 when registering. These classes are high quality and the materials are excellent and a donation is to show your appreciation for over 20 years of study, research, and travel to the Middle East that Rev. Ferret had to do to bring you classes like these. CLASS DESCRIPTION - This class will take us back into the historical context of the Bible so we can reconnect to the Hebrew mind of the Bible writers. For the Hebrew they might say that God is a loving God. Or they say God is a Shepherd. Jeremiah says God is a fountain of living water. For us, with a Western mindset, we might say that God is love or God is all knowing or God is holy. Notice - the Hebrew mindset is concrete, down to earth, and experiential - we are able to experience what God is like. For us our ideas are more philosophical or abstract. Is God love? Yes! Is God all knowing? Yes! Is God holy? You bet. But, when we combine our Western ideas and reconnect to the Hebrew Mindset, the meaning of God's word expands and it becomes even more enhanced. We will be like Thomas who was told Jesus was alive. When Thomas was told it was just words. As a Jew, Thomas needed to touch Jesus so that he was able to proclaim, "My Lord and My God." We will try and see as they did - those first disciples who walked in the dust of Rabbi Jesus - and hear as they heard - like David who gave us so many "word pictures" of Adonai - so we too will have a heart to understand His word in a deeper and more profound way. CLASS DATES/TIMES - Tuesdays, Sept. 14, 21, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 -each class starts exactly at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:30 pm Light of Menorah is a teaching ministry.  Classes, seminars, guest teachings at your church, worship events, Middle East tours are the ways Light of Menorah tries to help all Christians reconnect to their Jewish roots.
