Steamer Lane Design is looking to hire a part time workshop assistant to help with product assembly, laser engraving, and shipping. We are located on the westside of Santa Cruz and make laser engraved wood magnets, keychains, ornaments and pins for National Parks and gift shops around the country.
Shifts are 8 hours long and available 2-3 days per week. Starting pay is $18/hour. Pay increases will come as you master every skill of the job.
A typical day may include:
Polishing wood engravings.
Attaching split rings to keychains.
Gluing magnets to wood pieces.
Assembling pins.
Tying ribbons and assembling ornaments.
Operating laser engravers (training will be provided, no experience necessary).
Packing and shipping orders.
Product assembly can be repetitive, and requires finger dexterity and an eye for detail. You will inevitably get some glue on your hands. Most of the time you will be working independently and can listen to headphones. You must be able to pay close attention to the details of repetitive tasks for long stretches.
The ideal candidate will:

Be able to receive detailed direction and training.
Keep a clean and tidy workstation.
