Bach in Baltimore announced today its return to live performances with the 2021-2022 Season "Rebirth & Remembrance," which will consist of twelve ticketed concert events, running from October 3, 2021, to June 5, 2022. Bach in Baltimore concerts are performed in some of the most gorgeous and sacred spaces throughout the Baltimore metro area from Ellicott City to Roland Park to Towson. Full details about our season, including a full outline of concert dates, venues, and pricing can be found online at bachinbaltimore.org/concerts-tickets. "We are simply giddy with excitement to return to LIVE performances beginning October 3," shared Music Director and Bach in Baltimore Founder Maestro T. Herbert Dimmock. "We have spent hours—weeks—months—invested in staying up to date on the latest health and safety recommendations to order that our concerts are as welcoming and safe as possible so that we can perform for our patrons some of the most uplifting and inspirational choral masterpieces ever composed." The intrepid season includes Bach's greatest masterpiece, the B Minor Mass on February 6; a powerful performance of Mendelssohn's enduring work of art: Elijah on March 6; and Handel's glorious coronation anthems Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice on May 1. Maestro Dimmock also noted that "as we return to making live music, Bach in Baltimore seeks to use its music making to help heal our community. Central to that effort will be the dedication of our performance of the Brahms Requiem on April 24 to all who have died of COVID. We will list any and all names submitted to us prior to that concert." Additional memorial concerts include the World Premiere of Hollis Thoms Requiem (2020) [in the time of the coronavirus] on November 7. On April 3, Bach in Baltimore dedicates a spring-themed instrumental concert to the memory of Leslie Elena Starr, oboist for Bach in Baltimore and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, which will feature a new work by Viet Cuong, two stunning oboe concertos, and several favorite Bach works performed by her friends and colleagues. Bach in Baltimore will also pay homage to the fabulous instrumental music of the Baroque and beyond, including cherished classics such as Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 on October 3; Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks and selections from Water Music on May 15; Vivaldi's Concerto for Flute in G minor, Marcello's Concerto for Oboe in D minor, and Telemann's Concerto for Viola d'amore, Oboe d'amore. and Flute on June 5. Additionally, Bach in Baltimore will stretch Beyond Bach to perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and Haydn's Symphony No. 1 on May 15. Bach in Baltimore will continue to be the only ensemble in central Maryland presenting Bach Cantatas with great regularity. We accompany these remarkable gems, which represent Bach's life's work, with fascinating insights on Bach's highly personal and nuanced musical language, which will enhance the listening experience of the music. The 2021-2021 Season "Rebirth & Remembrance" will feature a 45 member-strong Bach in Baltimore Choir, full Orchestra, more than twenty exceptional vocal soloists, and local student choirs as a part of its Student Voice Exchange Choir program. Individual adult tickets ($25-$40) and cost-saving Passes—including the First Sunday Series Pass ($199), Mini Pass ($75), and Beyond Bach Pass ($55) —are now available for purchase at BachinBaltimore.org or by calling 410-941-9262.
