WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Police Department is inviting the community to support Special Olympics Illinois by visiting the city's Dunkin' location Friday morning and making a donation. Police will be at the Roosevelt Road and President Street Dunkin' from 5 a.m. to noon to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. Each person who donates will receive a coupon for a free donut. "We enjoy opportunities to engage with our community and support the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois," Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi said in a statement. "The Wheaton community continues to amaze us with how generous and supportive they are, and we look forward to this chance to see everyone who stops by." This is the 18th year that law enforcement agencies across Illinois have partnered with Dunkin' for the event, which was formerly called "Cop on a Rooftop." Special Olympics Illinois is a nonprofit that provides year-round training and competition in 18 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Wheaton first responders have already raised more than $20,000 for the organization through their Polar Plunge earlier this year. More information can be found here.
